Here are my top four books for this year in alphabetical order:

Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery
This is a classic, and rightly so. It was a reread for me. I read it as a child in Finnish and was reminded now of being a child. So warming. So uplifting. So fulfilling. I highly recommend a hardback version.
The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas by John Boyne
This book also reminds me of my reading years back. I read lots of WW2 fiction then. Good to remind one of these things now and then. History must not be forgotten. Poignant story including a child’s perspective.
Kim, Leon and the Sky Path to Africa by Barnaby Allen
I waited years for this book. I am biased, it was written by my love, then edited and published by me after his death. He knew his language and could use it too. Beauty, magic and history all woven together. An interactive book with a cover for you to design yourself.
The Visit by Friedrich Dürrenmatt
This was a surprise. I don’t read that many plays. Indeed maybe I should. Love, betrayal and revenge played out in a tightly knit package.
